Mathilde Gouin
Hi, I’m Mathilde (she/her). I hold an MA in Visual Communication from Intuit Lab, Paris and an MA in Sustainable Design from the University of Brighton. Outside of Academia, I worked as a multidisciplinary designer to bring more innovation and human-centred approaches to UK policymaking.
I am a PhD candidate in Digital Media at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon and part of the affiliated PhD program with Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My research answers the theoretical shift in Human-Computer Interaction calling for better involvement of More-than-Human perspectives in design and research processes by developing new human and More-than-Human collaborative methods and technologies with communities living in ecosystems at risk. I build on multidisciplinary practices and community co-design approaches to address specific ecological challenges while fostering multispecies imaginaries for sustainable futures, supporting new ways of engaging with More-than-Human more equitably.
Outside academia, you can find me selling locally grown vegetables at the Rizoma cooperative’s shop or climbing granite slabs in the gorgeous Portuguese countryside.
My CV is available here (last updated October 2024).
